Silly Girl

This morning Trav was working, so I had the wonderful duty of getting up with the kiddos. Knowing how much I love to stay in bed, they both agreed to play in Jack's room for a few minutes while I coaxed myself out of bed. When I opened the door, Zoey's face was covered in stickers! In the kitchen, she let me take photos of her masterpiece.

Eye patch or pirate?

I don't know which is more amusing - her bed head or the amazing stickers!

Now it's time to rearrange her artwork.

What? Who me?

Don't think I just forgot about Jack though! Oh's my wonderful son who was in a FANTASTIC mood (not). It was a chore just to take THIS photo of him!

What's New, Pussy Cat?

We've been busy. Our heater went out, but it's okay! It's just our thermostat. Our Internet went out, but it's okay! We received the new modem today.

So on top of preparing for a job interview, I'm a bit busy. In the meantime, imagine that you're cuddling with Walter:

To Celebrate 300 Posts...

Picture it: I'm in the kitchen making chicken nuggets. It's not exactly an effort-free meal, so I have my hands in a mixture of raw chicken, buttermilk, mustard, breadcrumbs and flour. I work with two pans, so once they are full I wash my hands and play with the kids for a bit.

In the middle of the breading, I realize that the kids are in the living room. And it's quiet. Too quiet. I quickly wash my hands and find this:

That's right - the kids sitting side-by-side eating cereal.

No posing.

No pleading.

Just complete love for each other.

I was surprised too.

But sometimes it's nice to be surprised like this!

Well, not now. Despite the fact that it's nearly 3:00 (and probably will be after 3:00 once I finish this post), my kids are not sleeping. Nope. Naptime right now is a rarity. Aren't you jealous?

Anyway, so I thought it was time to show our bedtime rituals.

First Jack plays with Walter (excuse the blurry photo):

A few months ago, Jack moved from the bath to the shower. That's fine, though he's really picky about the water temp. This is his "Mom, the water is too hot!" face:

But once we get the temperature juuuuust right, he'll hop in.

Look at Mommy!

He's trying to get his hair wet AND get a drink at the same time! Impressive multi tasking, if I do say so.

Showering is funny. I don't know why, but to him it is.

At least he enjoys it!

As you see with Zoey, winter isn't our friend when it comes to facial care. Zoey's is more labor intensive, but Jack doesn't get away with nothing. We put Eucerin, a heavy cream, on his face each night in the winter to help with the dryness:

Now, Walter is our shadow during this process. When a spider came out from the closet, I wanted to see what he would do. Well, I paralyzed the spider for him and Walt finished him off. This is Jack's face during the feedinf frenzy.

Now Zoey...she's actually the first one in the bathing process, but I figured that Jack is the older child and deserves to go first every now and then!

After playing for a few minutes, we go ahead and get the shampoo process started. Tonight we preferred the mohawk.

It looks nice!

Now for Zoey's facial routine. Here is the clear face.

Add Vitamin E oil.

Add Aquafer.

Add diaper cream.

After reading some books to her, she usually ends up like this:
Now - obvious question - why isn't there a photo of Jack sleeping? It's easy:
1) Even after reading books together and singing songs, he's not exactly in the best mood to sleep. Usually it takes him at least 30-45 minutes to pass out. Sometimes it will take more.
2) When he's asleep, you stay out of his room unless you want him awake. Zoey will sleep through anything but Jack will wake up and freak out.

Then and Now: January

It's always fun to look back and see how we've changed...

January 2009
3 years old

January 2010
4 year old

January 2009
1 year old

January 2010
2 years old

January 2009

December 2009
21 months old
Note - for Audrey's I actually had a picture of her from 2010 that was exactly 1 year old, but it didn't do the comparison justice!

Christmas with Krispi

Okay, so it was more like Christmas FROM Krispi, but on with the show!!

Zoey and Grandma Suzie loved snuggling and reading books before...

...April brought out the gifts Aunt Krispi had left behind for the kiddos (and even one for us!). Can we say perfect? Zoey was the Little Mermaid:

Jack was our doctor...

Both had many uses!

Then the birthday pie was brought out for the birthday gift! After a first stanza, Jack spied the pie and yelled "BIRTHDAY CAKE!" at the top of his lungs.

Audrey was REALLY interested in the candle.

She still tried to help her mom celebrate, even though she was fairly disappointed.

Just take a look at that disappointment!!

Jack's face was not one of disappointment. Try...just...anticipation.
